Power of the Tongue

“The tongue has the power of life and death” – Proverbs 18:21.  With words we can heal, wound, or kill.  With  words, God created the entire universe.  God said, “Let there be…and there was…” Genesis chapter 1.  We have to watch what we say at all times.  I still remember words that were said to me over 40 years ago as I was growing up.  Words of disappointment, words of correction,  harsh words and words of praise when I did something good.  Some of us hear words of abuse also, and these can have lasting effects, especially if we harbor resentment in our hearts and keep repeating these words to ourselves.

We are all important.  We are all accepted by the Lord.  We are all created in His image, beautifully created and thought of before the creation of time.  (see Ps. 139:13 – 15 and Eph. 1:4-6) Ponder these words, my friends, ponder on the fact that Jesus loves us beyond measure, unconditionally, because he created us and all things created by Him are wonderful.  Ephesians 1:6 states that he made us accepted (NKJV).

When we speak to one another, speak words of life.  Speak words of healing.  Speak to those in the world, whoever they are, knowing that they, too, were created by God–beautifully and wonderfully made.

This is Terri Byars encouraging you to speak life.
