Fear Not Series – Part 2

God Is With Us!

Isaiah 41:10-14 New Living Translation (NLT)
10  Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged,
for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
11 “See, all your angry enemies lie there, confused and humiliated.
Anyone who opposes you will die and come to nothing.
12 You will look in vain for those who tried to conquer you.
Those who attack you will come to nothing.
13 For I hold you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God.
And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.
14 Though you are a lowly worm, O Jacob, don’t be afraid,
people of Israel, for I will help you.  I am the Lord, your Redeemer.
I am the Holy One of Israel.’

Isa 41.10.jpg

“I AM WITH YOU” He says.  God is always with us, always beside us.  He goes before us and prepares the way.  Even when we don’t see Him, acknowledge Him, or follow Him, He is always watching us.  He knows all that goes on in this world.

He is always with us.  As I said in the last post His presence goes before us and stands behind us.  He is always here.

Isaiah 41:10 states he also strengthens us and helps us.  If we follow God, if we acknowledge His presence and choose to submit to His leading, He gives us power, strength, and wisdom to carry out the task before us.

He will also uphold us with His righteous right hand.  This means to me that He holds us up.  We cannot fall while we are in the hands of Almighty God.  He has us and walks with us.  He strengthen us, helps us, and holds us up so we don’t fall.  He knows our weaknesses.  And in our weakness He is strong.  (see 2 Cor. 12:9-11)  Therefore, we can stand in the face of difficulties.  He can rest assured that everything will be okay.  We can be confident that we will succeed.  God will be there for us and hand us all our needs if we follow close to Him.

What a glorious promise in scripture!! We are empowered by His strength.  And it keeps going, and going, and going. He never runs out of strength.  And neither will we.  Be strong, my friend. Trust in God and His power will rest upon you.

Fear Not Series – Part 1:

Whom shall I fear?FEAR NOT

PDF file: do-not-fear-scriptures

Above is a link to my original attempt to list all the scriptures which encourage us not to fear.  This is by no means an exhaustive list.

Today this scripture came to mind which is not on that list:

Ps. 27

Psalm 27:1-6
The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked advance against me to devour[a] me,
it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.
Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.
One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.
For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.

This reminds me of a Chris Tomlin song: Whom Shall I Fear?   based on 2 Kings 6:15-18.

It doesn’t matter how big our problem is, because God is bigger; it doesn’t matter if we are alone or not because God is always with us, so we are never really alone; it doesn’t matter how many enemies we have because The God of angel armies is on our side, cheering us on, sending his angels to ride along with us and defeat our enemies.  Those who are for us are greater than those against us as long as we depend and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

One thing I recommend for you.  This one thing I encourage you to do.  Read the Word of God.  Read the Bible and find scriptures which confirm for you that God is for you, supporting you, encouraging you, leading you, guiding and instructing you.  The list is endless of the promises that God has in His Word.

courage_deuteronomy“I know who goes before me.  I know who stands behind.  The God of angel armies is always by my side.” So I will not be afraid of tomorrow.  I will not be afraid of that interview for my dream job.  I will not be afraid of people I need to face.  I will not be afraid of failure, rejection, sickness, loneliness or anything else.  God is with me and nothing can separate me from his love.

Having done all then, stand firm on His promise to never leave or forsake you.  Stand firm on His promise to be near you and constantly comfort you when you need it.

Go with God my friend.  And as it says in Ps. 27:13-14 Be confident that you will see the goodness of the Lord.  Take heart, be of good courage, wait for the Lord.

Do Not Fear 365

This is a repost from several years ago. The post was getting a lot of views so I wanted to share it again with a few updates.

It has been said that “Do not fear” is in the Bible 365 times.  I think it was a quote from Facing the Giants, the movie.  That is not literally true.  Many have been searching the web to find out the verses that state “do not fear”.  There are less than 100 that literally say that phrase.  I have compiled, for those who are interested, a list of scriptures that are related to do not fear scriptures.

Word document:

Do Not Fear Scriptures

I went to www.biblegateway.com and searched for the following words or phrases related to ‘do not fear’: Courage, do not fear, do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, do not be dismayed, take heart, do not worry. NIV VERSION

I also added trust, because those who trust in God will not be afraid.  See Ps. 56 and Ps. 112 for examples of that.

The total for these DO NOT FEAR related scriptures was 233

I looked up deliver, and it is mentioned in the Bible 252 times in one form or another (delivered, delivers, deliverance).  That was too much for me to add, so I will leave that to you to research.  Go to www.biblegateway.com to find those specific scriptures.

That would bring it up to well over 400 scriptures we can carry around with us as promises that we need not fear, because God commanded it, and because he promises we can trust him for our needs.

There is also: Cast your cares, be of good cheer, and other phrases that comfort us and keep us from fear

Blessings through the Psalms: Chapter 3

Psalm 3 Blessings

How many of us have heard the phrase “You can’t do anything right” or “How can you be so stupid”  I still say that to myself when I make a mistake.  It’s just the perfectionist in me.  But God sees us as “holy and blameless in His sight” – (see Eph. 5:26-27)

God blessings seen in Psalm 3:3 – He gives us protection, honor and self-confidence.

Steel_sq_shield_detail1.  PROTECTION “You, O Lord, are a shield for me…”  This shield David is referring to symbolizes protection.  The shields used then were full body shields protecting the entire length of your body from head to foot.  When people were in battle, they stood back to back four in a group all carrying these shields so they were enclosed all around with full body steel shields.

God is our protection from everything around us.  Nothing can harm us if we trust in Him, NOTHING!

HONOR “my glory”  This means God gives us honor.  He gives us self-worth.  Without Him we are nothing, but with Him in our lives and in our hearts as our savior and the one we follow, He gives us significance and purpose.  He makes important and gives us honor.

CONFIDENCE  “the lifter of my head”  Our sin covers us with shame and we bow our heads in humiliation realizing that we are flawed, we are nothing, we are lost.  God gives us confidence so we can lift our heads in pride and satisfaction knowing we are a child of God and are forgiven of anything we did wrong.

What we need to do is see ourselves as God sees us.  Not as we look in a mirror, not flawed, not stupid, not abandoned, not worthless.

We are strong, we are pure, holy, and blameless in His sight because we are His children and He made us with a unique purpose.

Verse 5 blessings – Rest and Strength

Rest “I lie down and sleep” The Lord gives us rest as we trust in Him because we need not worry.  We can be assured that He has all our problems in His hands and can take care of us.  So with a peaceful life, we can be free to rest in Him and relax so we can sleep.

Strength “I wake again because the Lord sustains me.”  He gives us strength to arise and accomplish our task for the day.  We can look to Him for our purpose for the day.

Verse 7-8 blessings – Salvation

Salvation “Salvation belongs to our God”.  God saves us from all our troubles.  When we receive negative thoughts such as “I will never get it right” or “I’m can’t do this” that is from our enemy, the devil.  God saves us from all those negative thoughts and gives us assurance of who we are. We can do all things through Him.  We are victors in Christ, more than conquerors (see Philippians 4:13 and Romans 8:37).
