Life in the Kingdom – God’s Family

Adopted into the Royal Family

This is the first in a series about life in God’s Kingdom and belonging to His family.

We have the wonderful opportunity of joining the Royal Family.  King Jesus (2)And, no, I am not talking about England.  This Royal Family is part of the Kingdom of God or the Kingdom of Heaven.  We cannot see it now.  It is in another realm which we will reach after the end of our time here on earth.  But we can become a part of this Kingdom now, once we give our lives over to the leadership of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Then we become children of God. And His Spirit comes to live within us.

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.  So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves.  Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children.  Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”  For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.  And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.  Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.” Romans 8:14-18

So we become part of God’s family through adoption.  Romans 8:29 goes on to say that Jesus is the first of many brothers and sisters.  In addition to becoming adopted as God’s children, we become part of a huge family with many brothers and sisters.

Many brothers and sisters

I remember first moving to Texas with my husband and 11 month old daughter.  I had lived in Tennessee for 17 years and knew many people.  But in Texas, I didn’t know anyone.  There was great joy and comfort knowing that God was with me.  I felt His presence.  Also, when I joined a church I was immediately with family: a group of many other members of God’s family.  The kinship was immediate. Like meeting family members for the first time.  Even though I didn’t know them personally, there was a connection–a common attachment: God was our Father and they were my brothers and sisters.

heaven is my home

So come on in, my friend.
Become a part of the most elite family in the universe.

Coming soon:  Hear more about the Kingdom of God and our part in His family.

Changes in Life

Something exciting is available around the bend.  I know it.  It has to be.  Because otherwise I would not be here.Kinkade, Life's Journey

There are many changes in life.  One of them is retirement.  I wouldn’t say I really retired in the classical sense.  I just quit my job for several reasons that I need not go into in this blog.  Having done that, however, I’m finding myself at home with not much to do.  I realized that I have a lot of potential in me.  There is talent in there somewhere.  We all have gifts and abilities that should be used.  Otherwise, why are we here?  I have sat in my home and contemplated this for a few days.  Watching TV, reading books, playing video games, and surfing the internet is fun, but is is not useful.  There is no purpose in that for me.  Who am I helping?  So, I think it is time to start blogging seriously again.  There may be some nuggets of truth, some encouraging words, or some happy, funny stories and poems that I can write that will improve someone’s day, make them feel better, or maybe even change their life for the better.  Therefore, after 3 years, I am beginning my WordPress blog once again.  I am looking forward to what God has in store for me around the bend.  I am excited about life in general and how technology has made it so easy for us to influence a multitude of people on a daily basis.  So be looking for my blogs.  Let me know what you would like me to write about.  Hopefully, you can comment on my posts to let me know if I have somehow encouraged you, or helped you discover new truths of life and God.  Retirement will be fun now.  I have a goal, a passion, a mission, and that is writing!!

I HAVE GREAT WORTH

Ever have one of those days where you felt like you’re not worth much, or you keep making mistakes?  Do feel down or depressed or wonder if anyone even looks up to you or if you have any value at all?  Print out this picture and place it on your mirror.  Quote it to yourself daily and see how uplifted you feel in a few days.

In Christ means you have asked him to rule and reign in your life, thoughts, emotions, actions, and decisions.  If you have Him in your life…

YOU HAVE GREAT VALUE IN HIM AND THROUGH HIS GREAT NAME

Power of the Tongue

“The tongue has the power of life and death” – Proverbs 18:21.  With words we can heal, wound, or kill.  With  words, God created the entire universe.  God said, “Let there be…and there was…” Genesis chapter 1.  We have to watch what we say at all times.  I still remember words that were said to me over 40 years ago as I was growing up.  Words of disappointment, words of correction,  harsh words and words of praise when I did something good.  Some of us hear words of abuse also, and these can have lasting effects, especially if we harbor resentment in our hearts and keep repeating these words to ourselves.

We are all important.  We are all accepted by the Lord.  We are all created in His image, beautifully created and thought of before the creation of time.  (see Ps. 139:13 – 15 and Eph. 1:4-6) Ponder these words, my friends, ponder on the fact that Jesus loves us beyond measure, unconditionally, because he created us and all things created by Him are wonderful.  Ephesians 1:6 states that he made us accepted (NKJV).

When we speak to one another, speak words of life.  Speak words of healing.  Speak to those in the world, whoever they are, knowing that they, too, were created by God–beautifully and wonderfully made.

This is Terri Byars encouraging you to speak life.
